Starbucks will give away 50,000 of its $20 gift cards during December, in a program dubbed “Project Give Good.”
Staff in green-and-red aprons will distribute cards at holiday community celebrations around the country, such as tree lightings and volunteer events.
Between Dec. 4 and 8, individuals can visit local Starbucks stores to suggest ideas for events where gift cards might be given out.
Consumers can follow the activities on the program’s page on the Starbucks site or through #GiveGood on social media.
Starbucks is also running two other promotions during December as part of the program.

Anyone who makes a Starbucks purchase using the brand’s mobile app or a registered Starbucks card during the month will automatically earn gold status in the Starbucks Rewards loyalty program for a year.
Starting Dec. 5, purchases through the app or a card also earn plays in the annual Starbucks for Life sweepstakes, which offers prizes including bonus stars, as well as free Starbucks for a week, month, year and life.
