Zuckerberg Has Left The Building

Zuckerberg Has Left The Building

It's the case of the missing Zuck. Where is Mark Zuckerberg?

As angst among investorslawmakers and its own employees grows by the second, the face of Facebook is nowhere in sight.

This isn’t like him.

Via video stream, virtual reality or a plain old post, Facebook’s cofounder and CEO has always been visible in times of turmoil. And, Facebook is really in trouble. Heck, the feds just got involved.

Having failed to address some fundamental flaws, Facebook is increasingly looking like an unmanned facilitator of deception, disinformation and disorder.

Officially, Zuck is committed to fixing Facebook. For his New Year’s resolution, he resolved to cure all that ails the social giant. My March, of course, most people's resolutions are dead in the water. But Zuc isn't like most people!

This is the guy who turns some simple code into a multibillion dollar company, masters Mandarin overnight, and single-handedly turned the tie into a sartorial artifact.

For some reason, however, Facebook is reportedly planning to address the Cambridge Analytica fiasco in a company-wide “crisis” meeting, today, without its CEO!

To say that Facebook watchers are unnerved by Zuck’s absence would be an understatement. “Where the hell is he?!” CNBC’s Jim Cramer asked on air, on Tuesday.

If Zuckerberg didn’t surface soon, a clearly agitated Cramer even suggested that Facebook should find new leadership. In times of difficulty he fumed: “You put out your top people … or get new top people.”

Considering his voting rights, it’s unlikely that Facebook’s board could drop Zuckerberg even if it wanted to -- but that’s another discussion.

First, we need to find Zuck, and ask him how he plans to resolve the greatest existential threat to ever face Facebook.
